Martin Luther King Jr. Day is only days away, this year honoring 40 years of the King Day parade and King Week in Las Vegas.
Here's what's going on around the valley on Monday, January 17.
PARADE
News 3 is proud to be part of the 40th annual King Week parade.
Covid precautions are being applied to keep everyone safe as Las Vegas comes together to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King at this unforgettable event.
News 3 own Krystal Allen will be an emcee at the event, which will take place Monday, January 17 at 10 AM in Downtown Las Vegas.
The parade will start on 4th and Ogden, rolling through downtown along 4th street.

NLVPD HONOR GUARD
The North Las Vegas Police Department’s Honor Guard has been selected to lead Monday's event.
Starting at 10 AM, the honor guard will lead participants down the parade route, which begins at Fourth and Gass.
Councilwoman Pamela Goynes-Brown is the first black woman elected to the North Las Vegas City Council.
She will also be participating in the parade, along with several NLVPD patrol officers.
ROAD CLOSURES
Several road closures are set to be in place starting early Monday morning.
Starting at 6 AM, 4th Street from Charleston Blvd to Stewart Ave, and all side streets in between will be closed until 4 PM.
SERVICE CLOSURES
Services that are set to be closed on Monday include:
- Federal, state, and county offices
- Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, & Boulder City municipal offices
- Clark County courts
- USPS
- Las Vegas-Clark County libraries
- North Las Vegas libraries
- Utility offices (Southwest Gas, NV Energy)
- Clark County schools
- College and University campus (UNLV & CSN)
- Republic Services
