Tottenham 1-1 West Ham: Longhurst scores late equaliser in WSL London derby

West Ham's Kate Longhurst said she relished scoring against a team she "doesn't like" after grabbing an injury-time equaliser against Tottenham in the Women's Super League.

The lifelong Hammers fan scored with a looping header to rescue a point and deny Spurs a London derby victory.

Rosella Ayane had put the visitors ahead from the spot after the break.

But West Ham, who lost Hawa Cissoko to a red card, avoided defeat with the very last kick of the game.

Longhurst told Sky Sports: "When you hear the amount of injury time and you manage to get the equaliser it's a great feeling - as you can see from me running half the length of the pitch.

"I don't think I'll sleep tonight thinking about it. I just connected well. As a West Ham fan that's what you want - you want to score against teams you don't like, and that's what I managed to do."

The Hammers, who remain eighth in the table, have taken four points off their London rivals this season.

"We've really struggled against Tottenham in the league since we've been in the same league so it's nice to be unbeaten against them this season," Longhurst added.

The late draw means Spurs missed the chance to go second in the table, and they stay below Chelsea and Manchester United on goal difference.

They had started the match with purpose and almost carved through the Hammers backline through Ayane, who had a shot blocked before continuing her run, only for Gilly Flaherty to clear.

With half-time looming, both sides squandered chances. Josie Green was thwarted by Flaherty before Ayane fired wide at one end, and Grace Fisk missed a golden chance for the visitors.

On 54 minutes, Ayane slotted home from the penalty spot after Cissoko challenged Jiali Tang from behind in the area.

It was an eventful two minutes for the French defender who - already on a booking from the first half - was then sent off for dissent.

Ashleigh Neville almost drove in a second for Spurs with 18 minutes remaining, but West Ham substitute Lucy Parker blocked superbly before goalkeeper Anna Leat denied Tang.

Spurs manager Rehanne Skinner told Sky Sports: "It feels like two points dropped - based on the way we've completely dominated the game from start to finish, apart from five minutes just before half-time.

"All it boils down to is we haven't put the ball in the back of the net when we needed to.

"We've got to move on quickly - we've got a three-game week in front of us. For us it's just about making sure we do better next time."
