CROSBY AND SULLIVAN RIP HELMET RULE
Game 7 OT loss - that can sting. Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan was measured in his responses to the media in his post-game availability, but he was clearly upset about one play in particular. In the third period, Penguins' defenseman Marcus Pettersson got wrapped up with Rangers' forward Alexis Lafreniere behind the net. In the skirmish, Petterson's helmet comes off.

RYAN MCDONAGH LEVELS NOEL ACCIARI, REFS BLOW IT & CALL A PENALTY (VIDEO)
This was as clean of a hit as there could be. Acciari catches the puck in his glove & McDonagh instantly trucks him. Not sure who called this a penalty or why he did it (Ahem, Kelly Sutherland). But this was clearly a blown call, and if the Tim Peel debacle taught us anything last year. There's probably a make-up call inbound.

PENS COACH COMMENTS ON REPORT CROSBY WAS CLEARED TO PLAY GAME 6 BUT TEAM WOULDN'T LET HIM

After the Pittsburgh Penguins were knocked out of the playoffs in game seven by the New York Rangers, a report from The Athletic's Rob Rossi stated star player Sidney Crosby was medically cleared to play game 6, but the team - specifically GM Ron Hextall - wouldn't let him due to concerns over his concussion history. MCCRIMMON ASKED IF HE REGRETS FIRING GALLANT; STONE LIKELY HAVING MAJOR SURGERY
It's an odd quote from Vegas Golden Knights' General Manager Kelly McCrimmon, to say the least. McCrimmon fired head coach Peter DeBoer Monday after what was the worst season in the team's short history. DeBoer lasted under two-and-a-half seasons. He was hired after Gerard Gallant was fired in a move made specifically to bring DeBoer to Vegas after he was fired from the San Jose Sharks. Now, Gallant is headed to the second round of the 2022 NHL Playoffs with the New York Rangers, while DeBoer is unemployed. McCrimmon seems to believe that he still made the right move canning Gallant.
