Schefter: Jimmy Garoppolo Has Raised His Value to 49ers and NFL Teams in Trade Market

Jimmy Garoppolo has led the San Francisco 49ers to wins in six of his last eight starts, reportedly improving the view of his play around the NFL.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Garoppolo has "raised his value to both the 49ers and to other teams in the offseason trade market."

Garoppolo will lead the 49ers into Dallas on Sunday, where he'll be tasked with proving himself on the playoff stage. While San Francisco made Super Bowl LIV with Garoppolo under center two years ago, that run came in large part despite Garoppolo's quiet performance.

The 49ers reportedly refused to trade Garoppolo for a second-round pick last offseason, which means the asking price may start at a first. While few would argue Garoppolo's play makes him worth a first-round pick, a team could offer a package similar to the one the Indianapolis Colts gave the Philadelphia Eagles for Carson Wentz.

The Colts sent a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional second-round pick that later became a first for Wentz once the quarterback hit playing-time incentives. It's hard to see any team offering a first for Garoppolo without him having to hit playing-time and/or performance thresholds.

Garoppolo threw for 3,810 yards and 20 touchdowns against 12 interceptions during the regular season. He is 33-14 during his career as an NFL starter.
