Renowned frozen tundra outfitter The North Face has teamed up with Brooklyn-based artist KAWS, who has created a colorful collection for him, her, them, and kids. Dress yourself from head to toe in the unisex KAWS X The North Face apparel. There’s everything from balaclavas to hoodies, puffers, pants, fleece and bags. Classic The North Face items like the Retro 1996 Nuptse Jacket, Freeride Bib, Freeride Fleece and Freeride Jacket have been given the KAWS treatment. Prices for items range from $55 to $550.

The KAWS x The North Face collection ranges in color from black on gray prints to muted neon shades that dance on a white background. There are also lots of colorblock items, which has been a major trend in winter apparel this year. The theme of the new collection is “Outside the Lines.” The colorful clothing features fine lines that wander in and out of solid colors, creating an intricate world within a world. The result is a visual feast that proves puffers and winter coats don’t have to be drab and gray. KAWS, aka Brian Donnelly, is a graduate of the New York School of Visual Arts. He started out working for Disney as an animator before turning his talents to 3D items like toys and figurines. One of his signature creations is a large clown-like creature with its eyes X’d out. As an artist, KAWS reminds us of other fine artists such as Murakami, Inti and Stephen Sprouse, and KAWS has collaborated with fashion designers in the past. KAWS has also left his imprint on brands like Burton, Supreme and Uniqlo.
The KAWS x The North Face “XX KAWS” collection is the artist’s newest collaboration from TNF. In the past, the brand has worked with Gucci, Brain Dead, Dover Market, and Supreme. Infusing outdoor and tech wear with pop art is part of The North Face’s DNA.
