Tim McGraw and Faith Hill aren’t the only power couple going back in time in the Yellowstone prequel series, 1883. Though Rita Wilson may have missed her husband, Tom Hanks, by a few episodes, she will soon be adding the western drama to her résumé.

On January 5, Variety exclusively reported that Rita is guest starring in an upcoming episode of the Paramount+ show as a storekeeper named Carolyn. When Margaret Dutton, played by Faith, makes a stop at Doan’s Crossing, Carolyn offers her “some whiskey punch” to decompress. From what? Rita didn’t say, but after the exciting news broke, she took to Instagram to celebrate her new role.

“The secret is out — I’ll be joining my friends @faithhill and @thetimmcgraw on the show @1883official this season!” she captioned a behind-the-scenes photo of herself and Faith. “Keep up with episodes every Sunday on @paramountplus to catch a glimpse of yours truly 🤠.”

Upon hearing that Rita is officially joining the 1883 cast, fans of the new hit series flooded the comments section with heartwarming messages about her next gig.

“Congratulations. Wonderful photo. Your hair amazing! Happy for you. 😍❤️,” one person wrote. “YASSS!! What an incredible show, incredible cast…you will be a wonderful addition!!,” a different fan said. “That’s great! When we saw Tom in one episode, we wondered when we’d see you! Love the show,” someone noted.

As folks may know, Tom appeared in the second episode of 1883 titled “Behind Us, A Cliff,” which aired on December 19. The prolific actor guest starred as a Union soldier named General George Meade who tried to console James Dutton, played by Tim, after he survived the Battle of Antietam.

While Tom hasn’t reacted to the news on social media — he hasn’t been active on Instagram or Twitter since 2020 — we have a feeling he’s super excited for Rita. Last summer when Tim and Faith landed their roles, Rita left the duo a kind message on Instagram. "You guys are going to be so good in this," she wrote in the comments section of a post.

And now, we have a feeling Rita will do an amazing job, too!
