Oath Keepers, Ohio Rep. Davidson links mandates-Nazis: Darcy cartoon

Rep. Warren Davidson apologized for comparing Covid-19 vaccination/mask mandates to Nazi Germany. An Ohio bartender is among 'Oath Keepers' militia members charged with Seditious Conspiracy in the Jan.6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A new pandemic or poldemic variant has contaminated Ohio, Buckvid-22. It can be seen in Rep. Warren Davidson joining the morons comparing Covid vaccine/mask mandates to Nazis and an Ohio bartender being among the ‘Oath Keepers’ militia members indicted for Seditious Conspiracy in the Jan. 6 Insurrection attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Rep. Davidson won the District 8 seat held by retired former House Speaker John Boehner. On Jan 12, in two separate tweets, Rep. Davidson compared vaccine/mask mandates to Nazis treatment of Jews, in a response to a tweet by Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Mayor Bowser had tweeted a reminder to her constituents that they will need proof of vaccination, a Photo ID and mask “before heading out.” Rep. Davidson first replied, “This has been done before.” posting a photo of a Nazi health status card.

Rep. Davidson followed that with this tweet:

“Let’s recall that the Nazis dehumanized Jewish people before segregating them, segregated them before imprisoning them, imprisoned them before enslaving them, and enslaved them before massacring them.”

On Jan. 13, after the tweets were widely condemned including by the Anti-Defamation League and Ohio Jewish Communities, Rep. Davidson tweeted the following apology:

“For my Jewish friends, and all others, my sincere apologies.”

History doesn’t repeat itself, but often rhymes” - Mark Twain

“I had hoped to point that out. Bad things happen when governments dehumanize people. Sometimes, there is a next step - to systematically segregate them. Unfortunately, any reference to how the Nazis actually did that prevents a focus on anything other than the Holocaust. I appreciate my Jewish friends who have explained their perspectives and feel horrible that I have offended anyone. My sincere apologies.”

The Times of Israel reports that prior to Rep. Davidson issuing his apology he had spoken with Howie Beigerlman, executive director of Ohio Jewish Communities.

“We spoke about how comparisons to Nazis, Nazism,Nazi Germany and the Holocaust degrade public discourse and cheapen the memory of the survivors, the victims, the liberators and others who resisted,” Beigerlman told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in an email. “We agreed that passionate but civil debate about public policy can happen. Also we did invite him to visit the Cincinnati Holocaust and Humanity Center, which is hopefully now in planning.

It’s fair to question how truly sincere Rep. Davidson’s apologies are since as of Sunday morning Jan. 16th, his original tweets were still posted.

INDICTED OATH KEEPERS IN OHO

Looking to post bail are ‘Oath Keepers’ militia members now indicted for ‘Seditious Conspiracy’ in the Jan 6 Insurrection attack on the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to stop the election certification of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. It was the first attack on the U.S. Capitol since the War of 1812.

Among the Oath Keepers indicted were Ohio bartender Jessica Watkins, 39, in Champaign County, and the militia’s founder and leader Elmer Stewart Rhodes, 56, of Texas.

Seditious Conspiracy is the most serious charge levied yet by Department of Justice on those connected to the Jan.6 Capitol attack. It carries up to a 20 year prison term. And it also supersedes Watkins previous charges on conspiracy to obstruct official business and conspiracy to prevent a police officer from performing official duties.

The new Seditious Conspiracy charge elevates Watkins role in helping plot the Jan.6 attack along with Rhodes. Like Watkins, Rhodes is a veteran. He’s also a Yale Law school grad with delusions that he was on par with Benjamin Franklin, other founding fathers and revolutionary war leaders. In reality, he’s shown to have more in common with Benedict Arnold and the Civil War Confederacy.

Communications from Rhodes show him repeatedly talking of another Civil War and a new revolution. His longtime, now former girlfriend, said she watched the Jan. 6 attack and saw Rhodes fingerprints all over it. Now his and Watkins fingerprints are where they belong, on booking sheets.
