Montreal Canaidnes: Vote For Jordan Harris, Sean Farrell For Hobey Baker Award

The Montreal Canadiens sit last in the 32 team NHL standings with a 7-24-5 record after playing 36 games this season.

They still have 46 more games to play but we all know the playoffs are not going happen for the Canadiens in 2022.

It is already time to start looking to the future and the Habs have already built up an impressive group of prospects over the past couple of season. Marc Bergevin was fired as general manager on November 28th but he did not leave the cupboards bare for Jeff Gorton and whoever he hires to be the team’s next general manager.

A focus on the draft over the past few seasons has resulted in the Canadiens drafting 38 players in the past four drafts. A couple of those players have already become regulars in the Habs lineup, but many more look like they have NHL futures in front of them soon. A handful of them ave the potential to be impact players for the Canadiens in the next couple seasons.

Two of those potential impact players are playing college hockey this season and in the running for the Hobey Baker Award that is handed out annually to the best player in college hockey.

Harris was a third round pick of the Canadiens in 2018 and is playing his fourth season of college hockey for the Northeastern Huskies. The left shooting defenceman plays a ton of minutes in every situation for Northeastern and is an excellent two-way player. He has 12 points in 21 games and is a big reason that the Huskies are one of the best defensive teams in NCAA.

Farrell is in just his first college season after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Canadiens. Farrell is a terrific playmaker and offensive player that is playing a huge role for Harvard as a first year player. He has scored eight goals and 19 points in 14 games and is among the highest point per game players in all of college hockey.

Last year it was Canadiens prospect (at the time) Cole Caufield winning the Hobey Baker Award after scoring 30 goals and 52 points in 31 games for Wisconsin.
