Bryce Thompson scored 19 points and made a pivotal steal in the closing seconds to help Oklahoma State upset top-ranked Baylor 61-54 Saturday night in Waco, Texas.
Thompson’s breakaway dunk just before time expired punctuated a resilient performance by the Cowboys (9-7, 2-3 Big 12), who beat an Associated Press No. 1 team for the first time since the 2009-10 season and first time ever on the road.
After winning 21 consecutive games, the Bears (15-2, 3-2) have dropped back-to-back games this week and became the first No. 1 team to lose two home games in the same week. Baylor had gone 30-0 against unranked teams over the past two seasons.
Oklahoma State played its third road game in five days and had lost six of its previous eight games. Matthew Mayer finished with 16 points and five rebounds for Baylor. But the Cowboys finished with 18 points off 11 Baylor turnovers.

Drew Timme hit for 32 points on 14-for-18 shooting from the field, and six players scored in double digits as the Bulldogs cruised past the host Broncos in a West Coast Conference game.
Andrew Nembhard added 19 points and six assists, and backcourt mate Rasir Bolton had 12 points and seven assists for the Bulldogs (14-2, 3-0), who were playing their first true road game of the season.
Jalen Williams led the Broncos (11-6, 1-1) with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Johnny Juzang contributed game highs of 24 points and six rebounds to help the Bruins notch a victory over the Beavers in Pac-12 play at Los Angeles.
Jules Bernard added 16 points as the Bruins (11-2, 3-1 Pac-12) won for the sixth time in their past seven games. Tyger Campbell scored 13 points and matched his career best of four steals, and Jaylen Clark had 11 points as UCLA rebounded from Thursday’s 84-81 overtime loss to Oregon.
Dashawn Davis and Jarod Lucas scored 12 points apiece for the Beavers (3-13, 1-5), who dropped their third straight game. Oregon State fell to 8-57 when playing the Bruins in Los Angeles.

Walker Kessler had 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shots as the Tigers roared from behind to beat the Rebels in Southeastern Conference play in Oxford, Miss., to win their 13th straight game.
The Tigers (16-1, 5-0) trailed by 14 points in the first half, cut the margin to six at the break and had a 25-3 run in the second half. But Mississippi (9-7, 1-3) would not go away, tying the score with 8:59 to play.
Auburn then scored the next nine points and eventually led 71-60 before the Rebels cut their deficit to four points at the 3:05 mark. But Ole Miss could get no closer down the stretch. Jabari Smith added 15 points for the Tigers, with K.D. Johnson and Wendell Green Jr. hitting for 14 each.
Oregon 79, No. 5 USC 69
Will Richardson scored 19 of his game-high 28 points in the first half as the Ducks capped a history-making week in the Pac-12 Conference with an upset of the Trojans in Los Angeles.
De’Vion Harmon added 16 points for the Ducks (11-6, 4-2 Pac-12) and N’Faly Dante chipped in 12, making all but one of his seven shots. Oregon became the first Pac-12 team to sweep a conference road trip with two wins over top-10 opponents. On Thursday night, Oregon scored an overtime win at No. 3 UCLA.
Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Mobley each scored 18 points for the Trojans (14-2, 4-2), and Drew Peterson added 10 points, all in the second half.

Sophomore Azuolas Tubelis scored a career-high 32 points to help the Wildcats overcome a poor shooting night from distance and the absence of starting point guard Kerr Kriisa in a victory over the Utes in Tucson, Ariz.
Tubelis made 14 of 24 shots as the Wildcats (14-1, 4-0 Pac-12) ultimately asserted their size advantage, especially during a game-defining 21-0 run in the second half.
The Utes (8-9, 1-6) led for more than 15 minutes in the first half and often successfully slowed the pace of the game, but they dropped their fifth consecutive game, all in conference play. Both Gach scored 12 points to lead Utah. Dusan Mahorcic and Lahat Thioune each scored 10.

Wendell Moore Jr. added 15 points and Trevor Keels 12 as the Blue Devils (14-2, 4-1) shot 58.3 percent from the field in their first home game since a loss to Miami a week earlier. For NC State (9-9, 2-5), Terquavion Smith scored 19 points despite 1-for-9 shooting on 3-pointers.
The game marked the return to the bench of Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, who is in his final season before retirement but missed Wednesday’s victory at Wake Forest because of a non-COVID illness.

Jalen Wilson matched a career-high with 23 points and David McCormack posted a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds as the Jayhawks throttled the Mountaineers in Lawrence, Kan.
Ochai Agbaji added 20 points for Kansas (14-2, 3-1 Big 12), while Wilson went 10 of 13 from the field and added eight rebounds with five assists.
West Virginia shot just 27 percent (17 of 63), including a 1-for-9 performance from Taz Sherman, who finished with five points. Sherman entered averaging 19.9 points as the No. 2 scorer in the Big 12 behind Agbaji (20.6). Reserve Malik Curry paced West Virginia (13-3, 2-2) with 23 points.

Ryan Young had 18 points and eight rebounds in his first start of the season and the Wildcats upset the Spartans in East Lansing, Mich.
Chase Audige supplied 14 points and seven rebounds as the Wildcats (9-6, 2-4 Big Ten) snapped a four-game losing streak while ending the Spartans’ nine-game winning streak. Boo Buie added 12 points and four assists.
Julius Marble had a career-high 18 points for the Spartans (14-3, 5-1), Malik Hall and Gabe Brown added 10 points apiece but Michigan State had 17 turnovers and allowed 16 second-chance points.

Kyler Edwards scored a game-high 29 points and the Cougars survived a late charge from the host Golden Hurricane to extend their winning streak to seven games.
Edwards ignited a 10-0 run with a contested 3-pointer late in the shot clock as the Cougars (15-2, 4-0 American) ultimately extended to a 64-52 lead. But Sam Griffin sank three consecutive 3-pointers for the Golden Hurricane (6-9, 0-4), forcing Houston to survive two last-second shots.
Edwards finished 7 of 15 from behind the arc. Reggie Chaney added 10 points for Houston. Jeriah Horne led Tulsa with 24 points and six rebounds.

JD Notae scored 19 points and contributed to a stifling defensive performance late in the game as the visiting Razorbacks pulled off the upset of the Tigers at Baton Rouge, La.
Au’Diese Toney added 12 points and Jaylin Williams had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Arkansas (12-5, 2-3 SEC), which held LSU (15-2, 3-2) to two points in the final nine minutes.
Eric Gaines scored 14 points, while Tari Eason and Alex Fudge scored 13 each to lead the Tigers. Darius Days, who entered with an average of 14.7 points per game, had three points on 1-of-8 shooting from the field.

Colby Jones scored 16 points to lead six players in double figures as the Musketeers used a strong second-half effort to edge the visiting Bluejays in a Big East battle in Cincinnati.
Xavier (13-3, 3-2 Big East) had lost two of their previous three games — both against conference-leading Villanova — and appeared destined for another setback. However, a 19-4 run down the stretch turned the tables on Creighton (10-5, 2-2), which has lost back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Paul Scruggs chipped in 13 points and Zach Freemantle had 13 and 11 rebounds for Xavier, which prevailed despite not shooting particularly well from the floor (43.1 percent), the 3-point line (5 of 16) or the free-throw line (19 of 29).

TyTy Washington scored 28 points and Sahvir Wheeler added 21 as the Wildcats dominated the Volunteers in a Southeastern Conference game in Lexington, Ky.
Kellan Grady went 4-for-7 from beyond the arc en route to scoring 16 points, and Oscar Tshiebwe added nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds. The Wildcats (14-3, 4-1 SEC) led by as many as 32 points in the second half and set a season high for points while cruising to their third straight win.
Santiago Vescovi scored a team-high 20 points and Kennedy Chandler chipped in 17 for the Vols (11-5, 2-3), who lost for the third time in the past five games. Josiah-Jordan James and Brandon Huntley-Hatfield added 11 points apiece.

Mark Smith sank a 3-pointer with 1:06 left to propel the host Wildcats to a victory over the Red Raiders in Manhattan, Kan.
The win ended a frustrating four-game losing streak for the Wildcats, who held second-half leads in each of the previous four contests.
Nijel Pack had 14 points, Smith chipped in 12 and Mike McGuirl added 10 for Kansas State (9-7, 1-4 Big 12). Texas Tech (13-4, 3-2) was playing its fourth game in eight days.
Marquette 73, No. 20 Seton Hall 72
Greg Elliott’s free throw with 1.8 seconds left made the difference as the host Golden Eagles squeaked out the win over the Pirates at Milwaukee.
Elliott attempted a jumper in the final seconds and leaned into Seton Hall’s Bryce Aiken to draw a shooting foul. Elliott’s elbow hit Aiken’s nose on the play, but the officiating crew upheld its call upon review, which incensed Pirates coach Kevin Willard. Elliott made one of two shots, and Seton Hall could not heave up a game-winning attempt in time.
Darryl Morsell scored 26 points to match a career high and lead Marquette (12-6, 4-3 Big East), which won its fourth straight game. For Seton Hall (11-5, 2-4), Aiken had a season-high 28 points, and Alexis Yetna posted 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Mississippi State 78, No. 24 Alabama 76
Iverson Molinar scored 24 points to lead the Bulldogs to their second straight win, an upset of the Crimson Tide in the Southeastern Conference matchup in Starkville, Miss.
Molinar added six rebounds, four assists and two steals. The Bulldogs (12-4, 3-1 SEC) also got a boost from Garrison Brooks, who notched 16 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Shakeel Moore chipped in 15 points and five rebounds.
Alabama (11-6, 2-3) lost its third straight game and could fall out of the next AP Top 25 Poll. The Tide were led by Jaden Shackelford, who had 17 points and five rebounds. Darius Miles and Keon Ellis each added 14 points.
