California State University Chico State is adding mental health support on campus this upcoming Spring 2022 semester.
"We know that some students really thrive in an online environment and others do not, and in order to really work toward helping students with mental health challenges, we increased the number of services that we provide in our Wildcat Wellness Center, so I think we look really really good in terms of the support that we're providing around mental health," said campus president Gayle Hutchinson.
Chico State is extending their evening hours to 7 p.m. once a week at the WellCat Counseling Center (WCCC) and the WellCat Health Center (WCHC).
They are also adding an additional counselor to the WCCC and making counselors available in University Housing and Cross Cultural Leadership Center.
On top of that they are adding two clinical case managers in WellCat Services.

- Mental health support available by by appointment in collaboration with WCCC and NAMHS
- Licensed Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants provide mental health appointment and medication management
Campus Assessment Resource and Evaluation (CARE) Team
- Multi-disciplinary campus team dedicated to promoting safety and wellness of campus community
- Assists students reported as displaying behaviors that are disruptive, threatening, or concerning
North American Mental Health Services (NAMHS)
- Telepsychiatry appointments scheduled through WCHC
- Licensed Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, and Psychiatric Physician Assistants provide mental health appointments and medication management
