If you had any doubts about Porsche's future, a quick glimpse at its all-electric Taycan and Cross Turismo will assuage any doubts. Despite their silent operation, both are shining representations of the brand's commitment to emissions-free vehicles and unrivaled driving dynamics and acceleration.

But the Stuttgart-based brand also has a rich and varied history that it doesn't plan on neglecting anytime soon. To showcase and celebrate esteemed models from years gone by, several Porsche Centers in Canada have partaken in the second consecutive Porsche Classic Restoration Competition.

The aim of the challenge? To showcase their expertise and bring the Porsche community together. The brief was to restore any Porsche recognized as a classic to factory condition.

The Centers restored a number of desirable Porsche models, among them a variety of air-cooled 911s and 356 coupes and cabriolets. The cars had to be sourced by the teams and returned to past glory, with meticulous documentation of the process being part of the competition.

At the end of the permitted time period, the four-wheeled entrants were sent to Porsche's Parts and Distribution Center in Ontario. From here, a panel of experts from Porsche Canada and the Club's Canada Region judged the cars based on their condition, restoration and support marketing, and communication.

"The objective of this project is to showcase the classic know-how and restoration ability of our excellent Porsche Centres across Canada," said Porsche Cars Canada's National After Sales Business Manager Rajat Thukral.

From a fastidiously restored 356B Coupe to a 993 911 Carrera with more than 200,000 km (124,000 miles) on the clock, the teams all took different approaches when it came to the cars they entered.

Perhaps the most unique cars in the competition were the 930 Turbo, painted in a special shade of blue by Porsche Centre London, as well as a 911 Safari, replete with the brand's Exclusive tartan interior and a suspension lift. Judges scrutinized every detail of the vehicles, from the gearbox and engine rebuilds to the wiring and bodywork. Th356's were judged separately from the 911 sportscars.

In the end, a matching numbers 1960 356 B cabriolet - with a rare matching hard top - took honors in the 356 category, while a 1986 911 Targa Commemorative Edition waltzed off with first place in the 911 class.
