The Georgia Bulldogs captured their first national championship in four decades and finished the season atop the college football world, but where do they rank among other title winners since the turn of the century? Nick Kayal gave his top 10 list of champions since 2000, and wants to know how you would rank them?

1. 2001 Miami Hurricanes
2. 2019 LSU Tigers
3. 2004 USC Trojans
4. 2020 Alabama Crimson Tide
5. 2008 Florida Gators
6. 2013 Florida State Seminoles
7. 2018 Clemson Tigers
8. 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide
9. 2021 Georgia Bulldogs
10. 2005 Texas Longhorns

Regardless of where UGA’s team ranks on the list above, Kayal explained his belief that Kirby Smart has put Georgia in a position to become a perennial power in college football.

“I believe right now that Kirby Smart and Georgia are primed and in position to take the torch from Alabama and not only become the SEC’s preeminent program but also become college football’s preeminent program. And, I think that could be for the next decade,” Kayal said.

While he conceded that the Dawgs may not repeat in 2022, Kayal outlined the factors that could lead to UGA going on a dominant run over the next several years—Nick Saban can’t coach forever, Clemson is coming off a down year, and Oklahoma’s path to a title will get more difficult when they join the SEC.

“Right now, Kirby Smart and the Dawgs are primed for a run to win multiple titles, and I’m not saying in a decade, I’m saying multiple titles in a recruiting cycle and could end up definitively with three or four championships when it’s all said and done for Kirby Smart in Athens," he said.

The Dawgs will lose key pieces from this championship roster, but they continue to reload. UGA ranks #3 in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to 24/7 Sports.
