Celine Dion has canceled her upcoming North American tour, which was to include a stop at San Francisco’s Chase Center on April 1 and Oakland Arena on April 3, citing health concerns.

The Canadian singer had completed 52 dates on her “Courage World Tour” before the COVID-19 pandemic forced her to postpone the North American leg to March 9 through April 22. But because of “severe and persistent muscle spasms which are preventing her from performing,” Dion’s recovery is taking longer than she hoped, Fran Curtis, her spokesperson, said in a statement on Saturday, Jan. 15.

“I was really hoping that I’d be good to go by now, but I suppose I just have to be more patient and follow the regimen that my doctors are prescribing,” Dion said in social media posts. “There’s a lot of organizing and preparation that goes into our shows, and so we have to make decisions today which will affect the plans two months down the road.”

Tickets purchased for the Chase Center and Oakland Arena concerts with a credit card through authorized ticketing outlets will be refunded automatically. Others can reach out to point of purchase for refund details.

The European leg of the “Courage World Tour” is still scheduled to begin May 25 in Birmingham, England.

“I’ll be so glad to get back to full health, as well as all of us getting past this pandemic, and I can’t wait to be back on stage again,” Dion said. “Meanwhile, I’ve been very touched by all the words of encouragement that everyone’s been sending to me on social media. I feel your love and support and it means the world to me.”
