Two arrested for string of crime in Delaware, police searching for two more

HARBESON – Two men are facing multiple charges after being arrested for possession of drugs during a traffic stop near Harbeson. One of the men was wanted for home invasion.
Around 4 p.m. on January 13t,the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force (GTF) assisted the First State Task Force and Delaware State Police Special Operations Team (SORT) with finding and arresting 21-year-old Jhareed A. Ayers of Lewes. Police say Ayers was wanted for a home invasion involving a firearm, and aggravated menacing involving a gun.
Police were able to identify Ayers in the rear passenger seat of a black Hyundai Elantra being driven by an 18-year-old female on Lewes Georgetown Highway. Ayers was arrested without incident. Police found him to be in possession of 0.819 grams of heron and 2.69 grams of crack cocaine. The 18-year-old female driver was released from the scene without being charged.
The front seat passenger was identified as 18-year-old Jaliel Perry of Lincoln. He was wanted on three failure to appear capiases issued by Sussex Family Court. Perry was also arrested, and found to be in possession of about 2.08 grams of crack cocaine and one ecstasy pill. Ayers and Perry were taken to Troop 7 in Lewes. Ayers was charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ayers was also charged for an incident that happened on December 16th, 2021. Police say Ayers and two other suspects broke into a home on the 17000 block of Needle Drive in Lewes. Ayers and the other suspects allegedly struck a 57-year-old male victim with a handgun before leaving the house with safe containing more than $1,500 in cash. Police say at the time of the incident, there were a 7, 4, and 3-year-old inside the home. None of the children were hurt.
For this incident, Ayers was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first degree burglary, aggravated menacing, and possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited. He was also charged with theft over $,1500, second degree conspiracy, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Ayers was also charged for a separate incident that happened on December 22nd, 2021. Police say Ayers held a gun to a 53-year-old man standing outside a home on the 19000 block of Duffy Street in West Rehoboth Beach, and forced him to knock on the door. When a nearby car alarm went off, Ayers and a second unknown male suspect left the area in a dark colored SUV. The victim was not hurt.
Charges from that incident include possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and offensive touching stemming. Ultimately, Ayers was taken to Sussex Correctional Institution on $353,300 cash bond for all of his charges.
Perry was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $10,400 unsecured bond on the drug charges. But, Perry was taken to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $800 secured bond due to his outstanding capiases.
Another suspect involved in the home invasion on Needle Drive was identified as 20-year-old James R. Ayers of Lewes. He has not been arrested and detectives are actively searching for him. A third suspect has yet to be identified. Anyone with information on James R. Ayers’ whereabouts is asked to call Detective C. Simpson at (302) 752-3855.
