2 men killed in overnight shootings in Manhattan, Brooklyn; no arrests

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two overnight shootings in New York City left two men dead, police said.

The first reported shooting happened Friday just before 10 p.m. at the Lillian Wald Houses on the Lower East Side, located at 691 FDR Drive.

Police responded to a fourth-floor apartment, where they found a victim with gunshot wounds the the back and neck.

According to the Daily News, the suspect pretended to be an Uber driver and knocked on the victim's door before pulling out a gun.

EMS transported the man to Mount Sinai-Beth Israel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as Davon Venable, 30, who lived in the apartment he was found shot in.

No arrests have been made in the case as of Saturday morning.

The second homicide overnight occurred at 4:50 a.m. in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn.

Police said they responded to 1491 Broadway, where they found a 44-year-old man with gunshot wounds to their neck and torso.

He was transported to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was not identified. No arrests had been made as of Saturday morning.
