The Harrisburg School District has announced the cancellation of basketball games scheduled for Saturday.

According to the school district, the cancellation of the Mid-Missouri Invitational is due to the snow. The games were originally scheduled to tip-off at 11:30 a.m.

Semi-truck slide off causing delays on I-70 in Callaway County

Drivers should expect to find delays on part of eastbound I-70 in Callaway County on Saturday morning.

According to the MoDOT Traveler Information Map at 8:45 a.m., the closure of the eastbound lanes near the Millersburg exit is expected to last at least an hour. An ABC 17 News crew saw at least one semi-truck in the median near the impacted area.

State coronavirus testing events in St. Louis, KC areas canceled

The state of Missouri has canceled its coronavirus testing events Saturday in the St. Louis and Kansas City areas because of snowy roads.

Testing events were scheduled for the Machinist Lodge in Bridgeton and a Teamsters union office in Kansas City, but the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services said the weather led to calling them off. St. Louis had 1.5 inches of snow accumulation by 6 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Nearly 3.5 inches had fallen near Kansas City by 7 a.m., the weather service reported.

The Missouri Department of Transportation's traveler information map shows major highways mostly covered with snow from Kansas City to St. Louis at about 9 a.m.

The testing events were set as the state is seeing a surge in coronavirus cases and increasing demand for testing. The record levels of cases and hospitalizations are being driven by the omicron variant, which experts say is more easily transmitted than previous coronavirus strains.

A testing event is scheduled for Jan. 23 in Jefferson City.

MoDOT driver ok after sliding off of road near Kingdom City

A MoDOT driver is ok after sliding off of a road near Kingdom City on Saturday morning.

A spokesman for MoDOT told ABC 17 News the plow truck slid off of an on-ramp to Interstate 70 while going down the road at a slow rate of speed. A tow truck is on the way to help get the plow truck back onto the road.

MoDOT reports snowy conditions on I-70 in Mid-Missouri

Drivers in Mid-Missouri are asked to parts of Interstate 70 due to snowy road conditions.

According to MoDOT at 7:30 a.m., parts of I-70 are snow-covered. The department also reported weather-related impacts to its secondary roads.

MoDOT has asked drivers in Mid-Missouri to avoid going out on Saturday morning.

The department provides updated road conditions on its Traveler Information Map website.

MoDOT reports traffic impacts due to snow, crashes near Kingdom City

MoDOT is reporting more snow-covered roads across Mid-Missouri on Saturday morning.

According to the department at 6:50 p.m., snowy conditions and crashes have impacted traffic on parts of Highway 54 and Interstate 70 near Kingdom City. Additional details about the crashes weren't immediately available.

MoDOT has asked drivers in Mid-Missouri to avoid going out.

GoCOMO plans for normal bus service despite snowfall

The public bus system in Columbia doesn't expect any weather-related service interruptions.

According to GoCOMO, customers should be able to find normal services on Saturday. Officials said any updates or changes due to the snow would be shared on GoCOMO's social media platforms.

The ABC 17 Stormtdrack Weather Team is tracking snow for most of Mid-Missouri. Some areas could receive between 2 to 6 inches of snow.

MoDOT reports some snow-covered roads in Mid-Missouri

The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team is tracking snow moving in Mid-Missouri on Saturday morning.

According to MoDOT at 5:33 a.m., the snow is starting to impact road conditions along Interstate 70 and areas to the north. Officials expect the conditions to keep changing throughout Saturday morning.

MoDot has asked drivers to stay off the road if possible. Drivers can find road condition updates on MoDOT's Traveler Information Map.
