WWE SmackDown results for this week’s episode. WWE.com has announced that Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins will meet face-to-face. WWE Hall of Famer, Lita, will return to the show for the first time in nearly 20 years. Sami Zayn will promise to out-Jackass Johnny Knoxville with his own stunt show, InZayn, and Aliyah will make her singles main roster debut against Natalya.

WWE SmackDown Results – January 14, 2022

The show opens with a recap of the Roman Reigns-Brock Lesnar-Paul Heyman segment from last week, plus the reveal of Seth “Freakin” Rollins as the new No.1 contender for the Universal Championship.

We cross live to the arena in Omaha, Neb. Seth Rollins is then shown laughing into the camera backstage as they promote the face-to-face between him and Roman Reigns later tonight. Lita’s appearance for the first time in over 20 years is also highlighted.

The SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos, make their way to the ring. A recap of the Street Fight with King Woods and Sir Kofi is shown from last week. The fans in Omaha boo the champions before they speak. The Usos say they beat The New Day but they respect The New Day because they push them hard. They say everybody knows who runs this show and who the best tag team is and that they are the ones.

They reveal that there is a Fatal 4-Way tag team match coming up to determine the new No.1 contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. The Uso’s introduce Los Lotharios (Angel & Humberto), Cesaro & Mansoor, Jinder Mahal & Shanky, and The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar) for the match. The Uso’s say they are the ones before delivering some superkicks and exiting the ring as the brawl begins as we go to a commercial.

The Usos join Michael Cole and Pat McAfee on commentary. We return from the commercial with Mansoor and Humberto battling in the ring. Midway through the match, Ivar was given a multiple Superplex from the top rope. In the end, after a nearly 20-minute match, The Viking Raiders win using their finisher, The Viking Experience.

The Usos talk some trash on the announce table after the match.

A video recap is shown highlighting the recent match between Charlotte Flair and Naomi in which WWE Official Sonya Deville changed the rules of the match. Naomi and Deville are then shown talking backstage. Naomi doesn’t appreciate Deville messing with her career.

Naomi hasn’t heard one single reason why she’s hating on her this hard. Sonya says it is because Naomi walks into her office with her main character vibes when she’s just an extra. Sonya reminds Naomi that she can’t touch her when she’s got the jacket on. Naomi leaves and Adam Pearce walks in saying it’s cold and alters the heating system and asks Sonya if she’s all good.

A video is then shown showcasing the history of Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, focusing on The Shield, promoting their face-to-face later tonight.

Sami Zayn then makes his way to the ring. Sami is on the stage and says the conspiracy targeting him has gone for too long since he was robbed of the Intercontinental Championship. Sami says he is poised to win back what is rightfully his now he is No.1 contender. Sami then turns his attention to Johnny Knoxville and what happened last week with Knoxville sending him over the top rope, which ultimately qualified Knoxville for the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Zayn says he has also officially entered the match.

Sami Zayn says Knoxville thinks he can do what Zayn can do, but he can’t. On the other hand, Sami says he can do anything he can do. Zayn then introduces us to his new show: InZayn. He then returns backstage and resurfaces sat in a shopping cart with a helmet. There is a ramp set up next to the ring, as Sami says he will fly over the ring in the shopping cart using the ramp. Zayn pauses saying it’s dangerous and appears to be having doubts. Sami counts down but he pauses again and wants to restart. Zayn pauses again just before he gets to the ramp.

He gets out of the shopping cart to make some checks as the fans boo. He gets in the ring and says he is tougher than Johnny Knoxville. Rick Boogs, with a fresh haircut, then comes onto the apron, as Shinsuke Nakamura appears behind him and kicks him in the face. Boogs then lifts him up and sends him crashing out of the ring onto a crash mat.

Backstage, Aliyah is interviewed moments before her match. Aliyah says she’s all nervous and since she was a little girl she has dreamed of stepping into a WWE ring. She says wants to put on a good showing and not embarrass herself (whilst alluding to throwing up, as she did a few weeks ago). Natalya then appears with the Guinness World Records book saying she is in it three times. Aliyah says she didn’t even know the records were still a thing.

This is Aliyah’s singles debut on the main roster. Natalya is shown again before she heads to the ring talking about records and they represent her blood, sweat, and tears in WWE. She reminds everyone about her three records. She said she is going to break another record tonight beating Aliyah in 3.8 seconds. Natalya beats up Aliyah before the match. The referee says Aliyah is unable to compete, but he eventually reverses the decision due to Aliyah’s protests.

Aliyah rolls Natalya up and pins her within seconds and breaks the 3.8 match record currently set which is now 3.17 seconds.

Winner: Aliyah

Backstage, Sonya and Pearce are talking about the record being broken. They say it’s now hot in their office.

A further video package is shown showcasing Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns’ road to the Royal Rumble. The time when Seth Rollins turned on The Shield is shown.

WWE Hall of Famer, Lita, then makes her to the ring, who introduced by Michael Cole in the ring. Lita says she is home as the fans begin to chant her name. Cole asks why is coming back to participate in the Women’s Royal Rumble match. Lita goes through her highlights in WWE and says that she feels that she’s got one run left in her and says she has a plan to win the Rumble and main event WrestleMania.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair then comes down to the ring. Flair takes over the interview. Charlotte says she didn’t know it was Flashback Friday. Flair reminds us that she’s in the Rumble and that she will win and pick her opponent for WrestleMania. Flair asks Lita how she’s going to handle the humiliation when Flair puts an end to her little comeback and WrestleMania dream. Lita says she’s not sure how Flair will eliminate anyone with her giant head. The fans begin to chant for it. Flair reminds Lita that her best friend Trish begged her for a match in 2019 and she ended her career. Lita eventually delivers a Twist of Fate to the champion.

A video is shown of the recent history between Ricochet and Sheamus/Ridge Holland. Sheamus is interviewed before his match with Ricochet. Sheamus says Holland should be standing by him right now but he’s still recovering from his broken nose. Sheamus says he’s going to break Ricochet’s nose, just like Ricochet did Ridge Holland’s.

A Ricochet promo is shown as he makes his entrance. Ricochet says he will break Sheamus’ face open like he did Ridge Holland. Sheamus ultimately picked up the win using the Brogue Kick to defeat Ricochet in a back-and-forth contest.

WWE recap the Aliyah now has the quickest victory in WWE history.

Backstage, Pearce and Deville are talking again in the office and they’re still having heating issues. Pearce says he was going to maintenance. Sonya takes off her jacket and Naomi enters ready to fight. Pearce reappears to stop her before Naomi explains her position. Pearce says Naomi deserves another opportunity and makes a match between her and Charlotte Flair next week.

Sir Kofi then makes his way to the ring and is facing Madcap Moss next. King Woods was injured last week so he is not here.

Another video is shown showcasing the history between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. This time the focus is on the WrestleMania 31 main event when Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase in a match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Back in the ring, Sir Kofi reads from a scroll that King Woods will miss the Royal Rumble match. Kofi confirms he will enter the Royal Rumble match. Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin then make their entrance. Corbin says he’s happy and has bought himself a new $50,000 watch.

Corbin says what will make him even happier is when he throws Kofi out of the Royal Rumble match. They then show a video of them attacking Drew McIntyre backstage at WWE Day 1. Madcap then tells a bad joke calling New Day “Poo Day” as Moss and Corbin laugh. Kofi laughs hysterically and says he will “drop a deuce” on Moss’ face.

After we return from the commercial, Madcap Moss is in control of the match. Eventually, Madcap Moss picks up the win with The Punchline finisher. Happy Corbin celebrates wildly on the outside, as Pat McAfee is displeased.

Winner: Madcap Moss

Seth Rollins music hits and he makes his way down to the ring for his face-to-face with Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. The champion then makes his entrance. Roman tells Omaha to acknowledge him. The fans in Omaha chant for Rollins. Rollins says when he knocked on Reigns’ door last week, he was the last person he wanted to see.

Roman says Rollins is out here talking about the past because Reigns is in God mode now. He’s the Head of the Table and the greatest. Rollins says he came out here to acknowledge Roman’s success. Rollins asks Reigns if he can look and the mirror at night and say that all his success was done by himself.

Rollins says he was holding Reigns’ hand left and right. Rollins says even when he turned on him in The Shield, Reigns still needed The Bloodline to hold him and lift him up. Seth Rollins says he created Roman Reigns, and he can destroy him.

Reigns claims this is a waste of his time. Roman says he looks like a clown, sounds like a clown, and is a clown. Roman states Seth Rollins doesn’t have the star power he has. He says that if he wanted to choose a mega star from RAW he would have chosen his wife. The Uso’s then appear and attack Seth Rollins, but Rollins manages to escape.
