Multiple agencies surrounded a Foxborough home for several hours on Friday located near the backside of Gillette Stadium.
Officers from the Foxborough Police Department responded to a McKenzie Lane home around 9:30 a.m. regarding a possible resident in need of assistance.
The resident of the home was armed with a firearm and was threatening to harm himself.
Officers remained outside the home and called for assistance, including the SWAT team, bomb squad, and robots were called in.
“When the subject did not respond to calls from family or police, we were able to deploy a robotic camera into the home,” Foxborough Police Chief Michael Grace said.
The suspect died of a self-inflected gunshot wound, according to police.
Residents were asked to avoid the area.
A man working in a house nearby said Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower lives in the area and left Gillette Stadium to check on his family.
State Police detectives with the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office are investigating the circumstances of the death.
