We’ve been following along with the production, which first began in June 2021. But after star Letitia Wright (who plays Shuri) was injured on set, production was put on hiatus through the end of 2021.

According to BBC, though, filming has once more resumed on the movie. When the production was put on hold, it was assumed that Wright’s injuries were minor. However, a stunt went wrong that Marvel said left her with “a critical shoulder fracture and a concussion with severe side effects.” A spokesperson for Wright stated that the actress has recovered and has resumed filming on the movie.

After the passing of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, it’s been speculated that Wright’s role as Shuri could be bigger in the sequel. According to Marvel, the hiatus won’t affect the film’s release date, which is set for November 11th, 2022. We’ll continue to keep an eye on the progress of filming on the sequel, and keep you updated!
