New York City Opera to Preview ‘The Garden of the Finizi-Continis’

The New York City Opera is set to present a preview of its latest world premiere of a new American opera, Ricky Ian Gordon’s “The Garden of the Finizi-Continis” on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022.

The preview will be held at 6 p.m. at the Italian Cultural Institute of New York and will showcase Tatev Baroyan and Jeremy Brauner singing pieces from the show. Kathryn Olander will accompany at the piano while Ricky Ian Gordon, Michael Capasso, and Michael Korie will speak about the production.

The in-person performance is invitation-only and there will be a live-streamed simultaneously on stanzeitaliane.it and YouTube.

“The Garden of the Finizi-Continis” is set to premiere on Jan. 27 and is set to star Rachel Blaustein (Micól Finzi-Contini), Brian James Myer (Alberto Finzi-Contini), Mary Phillips (Mama), Franco Pomponi (Papà), Anthony Ciaramitaro (Giorgio), and Matt Ciuffitelli (Malnate).
