Staatsoper Hamburg Announces Cast Change for ‘Lohengrin’

The Staatsoper Hamburg has announced a cast change for its performance of Wagner’s “Lohengrin” on Jan. 16, 2022.

The company noted that Wilhelm Schwinghammer will take over the role of King Heinrich for Christof Fischesser.

Schwinghammer is currently at the Staatsoper Hamburg for a production of “Manon” which opens on Jan. 30, 2022. The bass recently performed at the Semperoper Dresden, Berlin State Opera, and Opernahus Zurich. This season he is set to return to Berlin for “The Merry Widow.”

The bass will join a cast that includes Eric Cutler in the title role, Simone Schneider, John Lundgren, Okka von der Damerau, and Andrzej Dobber. Kent Nagano is set to conduct the concert performance.
