Glenwood High School’s band program is a uniquely cohesive program.
“A community, that's what it is,” said senior clarinetist Emilee Bergmann. “We really try to bond with one another all of us are friends. We joke around, we have fun, but we try to put in that same amount of work.”
There are three iterations of the band, divided by skill level. But the 117 total members sound so good together because they’ve played together since they were young children.
“I’ve done it since fifth grade and so have most of the kids here,” Bergmann said. “We mesh together, we make it work. It’s a lot of practice but we make it work.”
They’re all great friends who love to have fun with each other, but when the stage lights go on, it’s showtime.
“We have like a switch. We can be really fun but we can also know when the fun needs to stop and we put in the work. And it shows I think,” Bergmann said.
