Netflix's critically-acclaimed American crime drama series Ozark is considered to be one of the best shows on the streaming platform, and it will all come to an end with the debut of the fourth and final season. However, fans won't get the final episodes in just one batch. As previously announced, Season 4 has been split in two parts with the first seven episodes releasing later this month.
Showrunner Chris Mundy had an interview with TheWrap, and it was there he explained why they decided to split Season 4 in half.
"We always thought five [seasons] was the outside number,” Mundy told TheWrap. “It just felt like after that – we didn’t want to repeat ourselves, we didn’t want the show to feel like it was continuing because it was a TV show and it had to continue. So really the decision has always been between is it four [seasons] or is it five [seasons], and then Netflix hit upon the idea of saying, ‘We’ll do four but we’ll make it long and split it in this way,’ and that felt perfect.”
As Mundy and the writers started working on the final season of Ozark, they realized that they needed more than 10 episodes to wrap up the story.

“We could make these seven [episodes] feel complete and make the second seven feel complete, even though it’s all one continuum. I think 10 wouldn’t have been enough to tell the story in the way we wanted to. So any number over 10 and under 20 was gonna be good in my book.”

Netflix has not yet announced the official release date for the final batch of Ozark Season 4, but Mundy says those episodes are completely done, so once you finish Part 1, expect Part 2 to come soon enough.
