He’s back and better than ever. Well, maybe, but probably not. Either way, Jeremy Colliton is back coaching with Team Canada once again. After being named an assistant coach with Canada at the Spengler Cup, which was then canceled, Colliton is back with Team Canada’s coaching staff, this time for the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Colliton will be an assistant on the staff led by head coach Claude Julien. Along with Julien and Colliton, Canada’s coaching staff will include Nolan Baumgartner and Tyler Dietrich. Former NHLer Shane Doan will serve as Team Canada’s GM for the 2022 Men’s Olympic team.
Colliton was the head coach of the Blackhawks (you knew that) from November 6, 2018, to November 6, 2021. I still can’t get over that fact. He amassed an 87-92-26 regular-season record with the Blackhawks in parts of four seasons as head coach, getting the Blackhawks a play-in series win during the expanded 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs before losing in the first round to the Vegas Golden Knights.
No matter how you feel about Colliton, it is cool to see him getting an opportunity with Canada at the Olympics. Given the nature of the NHL when it comes to coaching jobs, don’t be surprised if you see him on an NHL coaching staff as an assistant or even as a head coach again in the near future.
