The Google Pixel 6 series were media darlings for quite a while but all that goodwill may be fading shortly, with the phones receiving flak for performance and software bugs—the charge being led by popular YouTuber MKBHD.

The Google Pixel 6 series made its debut back in October, and received plenty of plaudits for its strong price-to-performance ratio, particularly on the vanilla Pixel 6. Four months after launch, however, it appears things aren't quite as rosy, with the series now getting flak for a host of software bugs and performance issues.

Leading the line with complaints was popular YouTuber Marques Brownlee, with the media personality announcing on Twitter a few days ago that he would be dumping his Pixel 6 Pro in favor of his Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra because of a host of bugs on the Google flagship.

My Pixel 6 Pro has slowly gotten so buggy since launch in October that I can no longer recommend it at $900. Combined with the latest botched update it's just been a bad experience. My SIM is back in an S21 Ultra till the next review.

It's not an isolated case either, as a slew of Pixel 6 series owners on Reddit have corroborated MKBHD's qualms with the devices. Complaints typically include issues with the fingerprint reader, overheating, and a host of what appear to be minor software bugs littered across the UX.

At the moment, it does look like the regular Pixel 6 has it better than the Pixel 6 Pro. It's unknown, however, if these issues are down to the phones themselves, or Android 12. The answer is probably somewhere between. Have you had any issues on your Google Pixel 6 series device? Let us know in the comments below.
