If you are ready to pounce on a new Chevrolet Camaro or some other Chevy product, it looks like you may have to forgo the rear park assist feature. The company's current struggle with the ongoing semiconductor crisis, you may have already guessed, is the culprit.

The decision to cut back on offering the option of rear park assist for models began last year. But seeing that the supply chain crisis has not improved by much since then, Chevy has been forced to expand the cut-backs. There's no clarity on whether this feature will be retrofitted to cars once supply has improved or whether the models will be offered with credit for buyers. We also don't know when the feature will be reintroduced.

Camaro units assembled from January 10 will leave the factory without the rear park assist feature. For reference, this is a standard piece of equipment on the 3LT, 2SS, and ZL1 trim levels for both the coupe and convertible. This is joined by the Corvette which will begin to exclude the feature as of January 24. In this model, it is standard throughout the range for both hardtop and convertible body styles.

The Trailblazer was affected as of January 10 as well. With this compact crossover, the rear park assist feature is available via the Driver Confidence and Cruise package for LS trims. It's also included in the Driver Confidence or Confidence II pack on the LT, Activ, and RS trims.

Lastly, the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban will do away with this option from January 24. Both front and rear sensors are standard on all trim levels of these two SUVs. As for the updated Silverado, full production is yet to begin so there is no clear indication on whether the highly anticipated truck will be put together without this crucial feature.

On Chevy's latest truck, rear park assist was initially part of the WT Safety Package for the WT trim and the Safety Package for the LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss. On the flagship ZR2, this feature comes fitted as standard. Front and rear park assist are set to be standard on the LZT and High Country models.
