Red Bull name five junior drivers in Formula 2 ranks to follow Max Verstappen F1 plan

Ex-Red Bull junior Max Verstappen won his maiden Formula 1 title in the 2021 season.

Juri Vips is one of five Red Bull junior drivers on the grid for Formula 2 in 2022.

Red Bull have five junior drivers on the grid for the 2022 Formula 2 season, as they seek to follow the same succession plan as Max Verstappen.

The former junior won his maiden Formula 1 title in dramatic circumstances a month ago in Abu Dhabi, overtaking Lewis Hamilton on the final lap following controversial incidents.

As Red Bull prepare for their title defence in 2022, eyes have also been cast towards the future and finding the next great driver and Red Bull juniors will dominate the F2 grid next year.

Jehan Daruvala, Liam Lawson and Jüri Vips, all of whom won F2 races last year, continue on the grid and are joined by Dennis Hauger, F3 champion, and Ayuma Iwasa - who stormed through F3 last season.

It outlines Red Bull's clear plan for the future, with more drivers also on the grid at F3 level where second-year drivers Jak Crawford and Jonny Edgar continue, with the pair joined by Isack Hadjar.

Red Bull's F2 drivers boast a variety of heritage, coming from India, New Zealand, Estonia, Norway and Japan - with the two representatives from the European nations having the chance to become the first F1 driver from their nations.

Their progression to Formula 1 continues Red Bull's development trend, which has also utilised the Alpha Tauri team in F1.

The likes of Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon and Daniel Kvyat have all worked their way to F1 through Red Bull - though some have since moved on.
