Looks like thinks went well with James LoMenzo (White Lion, Black Label Society, Firstborne, John Fogerty, etc.) rejoining Megadeth for 2021’s Metal Tour of the Year trek — ’cause Megamastermind Dave Mustaine has revealed that LoMenzo will continue to play bass for the band on this spring’s recently announced second leg of the tour.

Mustaine broke the news to the public in a social media post celebrating LoMenzo’s 63rd birthday on January 13:

“Happy birthday James. With the Metal Tour of the Year starting again soon, we’ll celebrate your birthday with the fans! Wishing you all the best, brother.”

LoMenzo was initially in Megadeth from 2006 until 2010, and appears on the albums United Abominations (2007) and Endgame (2009). He is once again replacing the band’s original bassist, David Ellefson, who was fired from the group last year amidst a sex scandal.

It’s not clear if LoMenzo is the mystery bassist who also re-recorded Ellefson’s parts for the new Megadeth album, The Sick, The Dying, and The Dead. Fans had previously speculated that that bassist could be Steve Di Giorgio (Testament, Death, etc.).
