Call of Duty Modern Warfare II could launch in October due to poor Vanguard sales

It looks like Call of Duty Vanguard is not selling that well so Activision want to release Call of Duty Modern Warfare II as soon as possible.

Call of Duty Vanguard is reportedly one of the worst-selling modern Call of Duty games, dropping 40 per cent from Black Ops Cold War, to become the least successful launch in 14 years.

The reason? Well, there are plenty of them. People are tired of the WW2 setting, Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042 also launched this year and the presence of the free-to-play Warzone all resulted in lower than expected sales performance for Sledgehammer's title.

So is anything going to change when it comes to the Call of Duty development cycle? We doubt it. Activision will keep releasing a brand new Call of Duty game every year and in 2022, they are preparing Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, the sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare.

Insider Tom Henderson states that the game will be revealed during Summer with a sooner-than-expected release date in October 2022 due to Vanguard's poor sales performance.

A major Warzone update is also planned soon after that which would not be surprising since Activision have big WArzone updates with each Call of Duty release.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is reportedly focusing on drug cartel wars and will feature iconic characters from the series including Soap, Captain Price, Ghost and Roach.

Activision are yet to officially announce the game so until we get to see it, take the rumours with a grain of salt.
