Two dead following separate fatal crashes in the Upstate Thursday

One crash happened in Spartanburg County, the other in Greenville County

Two people are dead following fatal crashes in the Upstate Thursday. The first collision happened in Spartanburg County around 3:30 PM. The Highway Patrol says the driver of a Chrysler minivan entered I-26 going the wrong way and was hit by a tractor trailer driven by a Canadian citizen. The crash happened near the 14 mile marker of I-26 westbound just 2 miles from Inman. The driver of the minivan died after being transported to Spartanburg Regional.

The second fatal crash happened around 5 PM in Greenville County on Highway 29 and Wood River Road , just a mile south of Greer. The crash report says the driver of a Buick SUV tried to turn left from Wood River Road onto Hwy 29 and was hit by the driver of a Ford Sedan. The driver of the Buick SUV died after he was transported to Greenville Memorial.
