Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is shaping up to be a huge movie, and a newly surfaced photo that reportedly comes from the set of the sequel shows just how jacked Cumberbatch got for the role.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a movie that looks set to be Marvel Studios' biggest, craziest adventure to date, though the hope is that Stephen Strange won't be overshadowed! With so much chatter online about cameos, the former Sorcerer Supreme could fall by the wayside, but a new behind-the-scenes photo proves that Benedict Cumberbatch is ready for plenty of action.

Clearly not one to be outshone by the likes of Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt, the British actor looks to be in phenomenal shape here. Based on the trailer for the Doctor Strange sequel, Cumberbatch will be tackling a lot of stunts, so getting this jacked was probably a necessity.

Very little has been revealed about the movie, though with Sam Raimi at the helm, we're anticipating this being something special. Promo art has hinted at Strange's transformation into "Defender Strange," and if that means what we think it does, he'll soon be leading his own (Multiversal?) team.

Going back to Cumberbatch's physique, though, and we're definitely impressed. We're sure many of the actor's fans will be hoping for a shirtless scene in the movie...and we kind of are too now!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released on May 6.

@SnideCut - I was joking. My traps are negligible except in crab pose. Dude don’t need my approval whatsoever anyway

Not sure why Strange would need to be overly muscular. The character is a sorcerer that lives from his mental powers.
Also I could easily see them never showing off his body lol.

That said, good on him

Well Strange does know some martial arts. I believe Iron Fist even trained him in the comics. But don't think they would go into that in the movies.

@TheOtherOn - Eh, its just a bunch of contrarian nonsense. I can bet my left nut that if Marvel offered Gervais a part, he'd readily accept.

Well it would be nice to see him use more than magic in this one. He was trained in self defense after all.

Doesn't need to be buff just like Tony Stark. Still, is not as bad as Ray Fisher getting SWOLE only to be wrapped around in foil paper in Justice League.

Good for him. Honestly. He's a dedicated actor and a bright fella. I could see him playing R'as al Ghul down the line. Has he ever done anything DC related?

Josh, little guys like yourself don’t understand the word “jacked”. He’s not Jacked, he’s fit.
