Aston Martin reveals launch date for 2022 contender

Aston Martin has put itself on pole as the first F1 team to reveal its 2022 car, with the Silverstone-based outfit set to pull the covers off its AMR22 on February 10.

Ferrari had previously announced that it would roll out its 2022 charger around February 16-18, but without specifying the exact date.

Aston Martin will unveil its car at the automobile manufacturer's headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

As F1 teams enjoy a complete reset in the wake of the introduction of an entirely new rule book, Team Silverstone is seeking to turnaround its performance this season after a disappointing 2021 campaign that saw it finish just seventh in the Constructors' standings.

While its AMR22 will be entrusted once again to Lance Stroll and to four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, Aston has yet to nominate a new team boss following the recent departure of Otmar Szafnauer who is being linked to Alpine.

But Thursday's announcement by Alpine of executive director Marcin Budkowski's exit has triggered speculation that the latter is set to join Aston Martin, the two teams therefore simply swapping their team bosses.
