The PlayStation Plus January 2022 lineup is a definite step in the right direction for the service, offering up a much more robust selection of games than we were seeing in the second half of 2021.

Between action-RPG Persona 5 Strikers, racing game Dirt 5, and sci-fi shooter Deep Rock Galactic, subscribers have been hailing January as the best month in a very long time - but it's outer-space action of Deep Rock Galactic that's proved to be the biggest hit so far.

Released back in 2018 as an Early Access title before ultimately hitting PC and Xbox One in 2020, Deep Rock Galactic obviously already has a pretty dedicated community. But with the game's arrival on the PlayStation subscription service, it's more than doubled its number of players with an additional 6 million newcomers. You can never underestimate the power of PS Plus.

Developer Ghost Ship Games celebrated the news in a press release, thanking fans for their support in 2021 with a brand-new free battle pass to enjoy.

"The way Deep Rock Galactic has always been developed is directly with the community," said Ghost Ship Games CEO Søren Lundgaard. "We are a small team, undertaking a huge console launch so it is amazing to have the community working with us every step of the way, and we can't wait to show off what we are going to give back to them in Season 02 this Spring!"

If you're at all intrigued and are already subscribed to PS Plus, what are you waiting for? Deep Rock Galactic is a fantastic shooter that's absolutely worth your attention, so go check it out!
