Since The Power of the Dog was released more and more stories have emerged about Benedict Cumberbatch's method acting possibly going slightly too far. Not only did he refuse to talk to Kirsten Dunst on set, but according to costar Jesse Plemmons, there was one comment Cumberbatch made while in character that almost saw the pair of them get into a big feud.

If you've seen the film you'll completely understand why Cumberbatch's method acting might have rubbed his costars up the wrong way. His character Phil Burbank isn't the friendliest of people, so staying in that character the whole time was unsurprisingly challenging for his colleagues.

According to Plemmons there was one comment in particular that Cumberbatch made that got to him.

"There was one time he got under my skin." He told Variety. "He was like, 'Hey, big boy.' It wasn't 'fatso.' I feel like a few people in life have been like, 'Hey, big boy,' and I was like, 'Goddamn it. What the f***.'"

Later on during filming Plemmons explained that he confronted his costar about the comment telling him it "p***ed him off," and that Cumberbatch quickly apologised.

"I was like, 'No, don't worry. It was great,'" adding that Cumberbatch's method acting was actually "really helpful" for the final outcome of the film.

It really does sound like a tough set but we agree it definitely paid off.
