Manchester United is a club filled with glorious moments. Fans have a habit of looking at them at top of the league table. However, things are not that way anymore. Even, though there is not a single club in the premier league which is more decorated than United or has won more leagues than them. Still, it seems like Manchester is no longer red. Sir Alex Ferguson was the one who created the new era for the fans of red devils. Now, since he left in 2013 the era of Manchester dominance in Europe and Premier League also ended. A lot of factors are needed to be taken into consideration regarding what caused the downfall of the mighty kings from Manchester.

The rich history of Red Devils

You can not expect the Premier League to be this competitive and famous if it was not for United. Red Devils, pushed other teams to level up their game to remain in the same conversation as them. Clubs, like Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal had to keep on pushing them to remain a threat.

United seems to have enjoyed a lot of success under the reign of SAF. In his 26 years long era with United. He managed to win a total of 38 trophies. Which includes 13 Premier League, 5 FA Cups, 2 glorious Champions league titles. However, it is a thing of the past now. SAF left United after the 2012-13 season.

Since then everything went downhill. The club no longer has the dominance. They, no longer are able to compete for trophies. They last won a trophy back in the year 2017. It is almost been 5 years since their last trophy. This trophy draught really is not good for the reputation of the club.

A catastrophic current season.

United seemed to be getting on track under Ole. They finished the league at 2nd place last season. They reached the finals of the UEFA Europa League. They seemed to have a positive start this season as well. To continue their positive intent they even, signed the club legend Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

However, the signing did not go as they would have expected it to go. The club was very hyped to have him. But it seems despite all Cristiano’s good intentions the chemistry in the club is not there. Because of which they look clueless on the pitch more than often now.

A bitter loss against Liverpool at Old Trafford showed us that. They Lost 5-0. United seemed to have no answer whatsoever for a sorted Liverpool. The same happened against their other rivals like Man City. To be very honest, that has been the story of their season. United currently is at 7th position with 31 points after 19 games. They are closer to the relegation zone than to the top spot in terms of points. But now, they need to forget everything and have to work on the goal to finish the top 4 in the league.

They meet Aston Villa on Saturday. The  two sides met earlier in a FA Cup fixture. United came on top of that game. But Villa would want to get their revenge this matchday. It is going to be a really exciting fixture. Both teams would give their all in it. United from here on now can not afford a single mistake. They got themselves a new manager Ralf Rangnick. The experienced manager would try to sort the club before their fixture against Villa so that they don’t lose all 3 points. Every single point is now valuable if the club wants to finish top-4 and play in the Champions League next season.
