WALLED LAKE, Mich. (WWJ) – Remember “Pot for Shots?” Now there’s “Pot for Plasma.”

Two local marijuana businesses – Greenhouse of Walled Lake and UBaked Cannabis Edibles of Burton – are teaming up to encourage Michiganders to give blood, the same as they did to encourage customers to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The American Red Cross earlier this week declared the first-ever national blood crisis, as blood supplies hit an all-time low in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pot for Plasma will begin next Tuesday, Jan. 18, offering any customers over the age of 21 a free pre-rolled joint if they show proof they donated blood.

The folks at Greenhouse say anyone who comes in with “any sort of proof” of giving blood will be eligible.

“A sticker, a band-aid on your arm, etc. is all that recipients will need. There is no purchase necessary,” a press release says.

Last year Greenhouse gave away more than 30,000 pre-rolls during the “Pot for Shots” promotion to anyone who showed proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Greenhouse founder and owner Jerry Millen says he’s happy to help a good cause again.

“Our state and our country continue to be in crisis, and we are asking people to go out and donate their blood or plasma at a convenient site,” he said. “Their generous donations may allow someone to have a surgery or even save their life.”

Millen said he plans to give plasma himself in the coming weeks.

Greenhouse of Walled Lake is located at 103 East Walled Lake Drive in Walled Lake. They are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.

More information can be found on the Greenhouse website.
