WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KUTV) — A dad said the two teens shot and killed in West Valley City on Thursday were friends of his son, who was there when the kids died.
“Both of his friends passed in front of his feet,“ said the father, who did not want to be identified.
About an hour before the shooting, the dad said he dropped his son off at Hunter High School — and that his son called after the unthinkable.
“He was crying on the phone to me and his mother, saying something bad happened,” said the father. “All he did was cover them up, and they screamed out call the police, and that was about it, and he hung up.”

His son was so close, he could have been struck but apparently was not hurt, and was interviewed by police, according to the father, whose thoughts turned to the dead and their loved ones.
“My heart goes out to those kids because we know those children man,” said the dad. “Very good kids. The parents are great and awesome. It’s just very unfortunate what happened today, and I pray to God to comfort the parents.”
