Expected to make its official debut in the coming hours at this year's Tokyo Auto Salon, the Toyota GR GT3 concept has leaked on social media. The Japanese automaker probably isn't too happy about this. And, if you look closely, it appears the also new and improved Toyota GR Yaris is visible in the background. The photo was definitely taken at Toyota's show stand before the party gets underway tomorrow morning Japanese time.

Last week, Toyota released a pair of teaser images of both vehicles. The GR GT3 was described as "a racing-dedicated concept car that incorporates the knowledge and refined technologies [Toyota Gazoo Racing] has gained in the field of motorsports."

The GR Yaris, sadly, isn't sold in the US and it's highly unlikely it ever will be. Instead, America is scheduled to get the GR Corolla, an all-wheel drive hot hatchback, sometime later this year. But it's the GR GT3 that'll attract the most attention at this event.

With its long hood, short rear deck, and massive front and rear spoilers, the concept is clearly a "racing-dedicated" vehicle that boasts the best and latest technologies TGR "has gained in the field of motorsports." The big question is whether it'll remain a concept, become a motorsport-only model, or an ultra-limited run production vehicle.

The latter option is unlikely though we wouldn't rule it out entirely. The concept also isn't to be mistaken for the Lexus Electrified Sport concept, a fully electric vehicle that could become an LFA successor. Toyota's luxury division has gone on record stating plans to develop a next-generation battery EV performance car that'll pick up right where the LFA supercar left off a decade ago. Lexus' new concept is just one of a series of upcoming new EVs from both Lexus and Toyota.

We expect to have full details about the GR GT3 concept, the latest GR Yaris updates, and more from Tokyo. Stay tuned.
