Fortnite is not available on iPhones and iOS devices due to legal reasons but there are a few tricks to help you play the game regardless. So, here’s how to play Fortnite on iPhones and other iOS devices like iPads through Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna, and GeForce Now.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is in full swing and from crossovers and mythics to quests and map changes, there’s plenty of content for everyone to check out. While the battle royale is officially playable on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Android, Epic Games’ legal battle has led to Fortnite being removed from the Apple App Store.

However, there are a few easy ways to still enjoy the title on iPhones and iOS devices, so let’s go through all of them.

How to play Fortnite on iPhone & iOS with Amazon Luna

Fortnite running on iOS through Amazon Luna
You can use a controller to play Fortnite on iPhones and iOS devices.

Follow these steps to play Fortnite on iOS with Luna, Amazon’s cloud gaming service:

  1. Open the official Amazon Luna page for Fortnite on your Safari browser.
  2. Click on Play free with Prime. You need to purchase either Amazon Prime or Luna+ to access the game.
  3. Sign in with your Amazon acccount with the desired subscription and launch the game.
  4. Sign in to your Epic Games account and all your progress, including Battle Pass tiers, level, quest progress, and locker skins will carry over.

How to play Fortnite on iPhone & iOS with Xbox Cloud Gaming

Follow these steps to play Fortnite on iOS with Xbox Cloud Gaming:

  1. Head to the official Fortnite Xbox Cloud Gaming Page and click on Play Now.
  2. This should take you to the Fortnite page on the Xbox Cloud Gaming beta website.
  3. Sign in with your Xbox/Microsoft account or create one.
  4. With an account set up, you can click on Get Ready to Play.
  5. Add a shortcut or bookmark on your iPhone or iOS device to reach Xbox Cloud Gaming quickly. Use the share button to add this webpage to your device’s home screen.
  6. Open the iOS Safari Browser and go to the Xbox Cloud Gaming page.
  7. Run Fortnite. You’ll be required to sign in with your Epic Games account in-game and your progress should carry over from other platforms.

You can also get exclusive skins and rewards by playing Fortnite through subscription services.

Alternatively, you can also play Fortnite on your iPhone or iOS device with GeForce Now. This touch-control version of the game is available on iOS Safari and Android mobile devices.

Here’s everything you need to do:

  1. Either register or sign in to GeForce Now by visiting the linked page on your Safari Browser.
  2. Register for GeForce Now’s Fortnite. The service is not fully global at the time, and you’ll be unable to progress if it isn’t available in your region.
  3. Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad and go to play.geforcenow.com. Then follow the instructions to add a home screen shortcut.
  4. Use the shortcut to launch GeForce Now and search for Fortnite.
  5. Sign in and launch the game.

This will stream a touch-friendly version of Fortnite to your Apple device, so you can get back to playing Fortnite on your mobile. However, it is important to note that using the free version of GeForce Now will only let you play for an hour and to extend your gameplay, upgrading to the paid subscription is necessary.

Fortnite players can link their Epic Games and NVIDIA accounts once they’ve joined the GeForce Now closed beta.

Here’s how to link your Epic Games and NVIDIA accounts:

  1. Open GeForce Now on Safari.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Find the Connections tab.
  4. Select Epic Games.
  5. Log in with your Epic Games account and both accounts should be linked.

After you do this, your entire Fortnite account will be at your fingertips. And you only need to sign in once, too.

Fortnite supports cross-progression, meaning you can log in and continue grinding on any platform without losing progress.

When is Fortnite coming back to Apple App Store?

As of 2024, we don’t have any information on Fortnite coming back to the Apple App Store. However, in Europe, Epic Games is planning to launch its Epic Games Store on Apple devices (iPhones and iPads) with the help of the European Commission. Even this move was hindered by Apple banning Epic Games’ developer account but the latter had to revert the decision due to the European Commission’s interference.
