Emmerdale airs big cliffhanger for Meena and Liam

Emmerdale killer Meena Jutla may have finally met her match.

The evil villain was overpowered and outsmarted in Thursday night's first episode (January 13) after inadvertently leading Liam Cavanagh to her secret hideaway.

For the past few days, Meena has been holding her sister Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) captive in an abandoned barn, where she planned to murder them.

Last night, Meena also tried to lure her ex-lover Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) to join them at the barn, but her latest idea didn't go as planned.

In Thursday's first visit to the Dales, Meena grew frustrated over Billy taking so long to turn up after she'd given him the location of the barn.

She soon decided to return to her ruthless Plan A by trying to kill Manpreet and Vinny with exhaust fumes from the Dingle van.

Meena was surprised when Liam arrived shortly afterwards, wanting to talk to her after becoming worried about her mental health.

Liam explained that he had spoken to Billy and had opted to take his place by coming to find her at the barn.

Playing along with Liam's theory, Meena made out that she had been struggling with her mental health for a while now.

Meena tried to pacify Liam by promising that she had already arranged to speak to a therapist to get some help. She asked him to leave her at the barn in the meantime as she needed time to think.

Once Meena believed that she'd convinced Liam to go, she returned to the barn and expressed her disgust that Manpreet and Vinny were still alive.

Just when it looked like Meena was about to claim two more victims, Liam appeared from nowhere and knocked her out cold.

This all now paves the way for gripping scenes in Thursday's second episode, as Liam looks set to discover the whole truth about Meena's reign of terror.

An Emmerdale spokesperson teased: "Liam has knocked Meena out cold, but for how long? Will he be able to save Vinny and Manpreet in time? How will he react when he finds out Meena has been murdering people, including his beloved daughter Leanna?

"In tonight's second episode of Emmerdale, will the police finally arrest murdering Meena, will Dr Liam dish out his own form of justice, or will she slip through the net yet again?"
