Rainbow Six Siege has today launched its January 13 update, so here’s the full list of changes and fixes with this patch. To what might be a surprise to some, today’s patch brings out but a singular change, which was made earlier this morning on all platforms. According to the official Twitter post, this patch merely fixed a crash from shooting a specific point on a map. It’s unclear exactly what this specific point this is, let alone what map they’re referring to. I’m sure no one’s complaining about a fix to crashing though.
On the bright side, this isn’t all the news that was released recently. Prior to the January 13 update for Rainbow Six Siege, there was a set of developer notes which detailed what’s happening with the next balancing update. Particularly, some of the following changes will be made to the listed operators:
Aruni
- Added Muzzle Break to Mk 14.
Ela
- FO-12
- Reduced damage to 25 (from 35).
- Reduced Extended Barrel attachment damage modifier to be consistent with other weapons.
Ela + Zofia
- Removed movement speed reduction when affected by concussion effect of Grzmot Mine and KS79.
While these aren’t major changes by any stretch of the imagination and are nowhere near the size of a full season update, these small changes are targeted towards both casual and high ranked play to help reduce the effectiveness of both Ela and Zofia, two of the strongest operators at the moment. There’s also the minor change to Aruni which, while likely not changing her entirely, is a nice change nonetheless. It’s currently unknown what sort of operator changes we’ll see once we hit Y7S1, but we’ll be sure to update you once we have that information.
Rainbow Six Siege is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and through Xbox Game Pass. Its co-op spin-off, Rainbow Six Extraction, will also release on these platforms on January 20.
