Public asked to shed light on building history

By Brenda Erdahl:

Scott Chantland is in the business of restoring old treasures, whether it’s an unusual antique or a 100-year-old building. In Maple Lake, he’s had a hand in bringing back to life the Old Creamery and the “46 Birch” (Carlson Doll) building. Now he’s working on his next project. In October of 2020 he and business partner Patricia Murray bought the old Ertel Drug Store at 63 Birch Ave South and with every piece of crumbling plaster they remove, they uncover some new tidbit of the building’s history. With the public’s help they hope to piece together a picture so they can restore some of it to what it once was.
