Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, has been named a suspect in a criminal battery investigation.

Fox 11 reports Ye allegedly punched a fan early Thursday morning in downtown Los Angeles, knocking the unidentified male to the ground. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the LAPD is investigating the incident, which allegedly occurred after an argument turned physical near the Soho Warehouse in L.A. around 3 a.m.

Page Six reports the fan asked for an autograph while Ye was sitting in his SUV outside the members-only club. A video released by TMZ showed Ye appearing agitated, though it’s unclear whether it was around the same time as the encounter.

“Did y’all say that or not? Did y’all say that or not?” Ye is heard yelling. “‘Cause that’s what happened right f---ing now.”

The case is reportedly being investigated as misdemeanor battery with a maximum sentence of six months in prison.

Variety confirmed Ye was named a suspect in a battery report, but he has not been arrested.

The 44-year-old hip-hop star and fashion designer legally changed his name from Kanye Omari West to just “Ye” in October. He unsuccessfully ran for president in 2020, released a new album “Donda” last year, has a new docu-series coming to Netflix titled “Jeen-yus,” and was recently named a headliner for the 2022 Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif.

According to TMZ, Ye was spotted with actress Julia Fox at another club in West Hollywood on Wednesday night, but later left without her. He has been rumored to be dating the “Uncut Gems” star amid his divorce from Kim Kardashian West, with whom he shares four children.
