Gwen Stefani is heading down to Texas — and it’s not to perform with Blake Shelton.

Two years after she signed up to be part of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo entertainment lineup, the Grammy-winning singer is grabbing her cowgirl hat and pulling up her boots to take the stage in the Lone Star state. On January 5, Gwen posted photos of herself in western-inspired outfits on Instagram for the annual Texas event.

“🤠 i'm performing at the @RODEOHOUSTON !! 3.15.22 !” she wrote. “tix go on sale january 13th at 10am ct...get ready ❤️ gx.”

After hearing about the No Doubt leading lady’s next major show, her fans were ecstatic and flooded the comments section with supportive messages. “Yeehaw, gonna be a showstopper ❤️,” one person wrote. “You’re a rock star, a pop diva and a rodeo queen! You can do all things ❤️❤️❤️,” another added. “Yessss I can’t wait to see you 🤩🤩,” a different fan said on Twitter.

While many folks were thrilled about Gwen's upcoming gig, others began asking questions about her country music star husband. “Wow! That's really strange. Blake isn't performing?” one person tweeted. “Why isn’t Blake on this list of performers for a country show?” another asked on Instagram.

Seeing the confusion, a fan on Twitter replied: “She was already announced for 2020, but it got cancelled. Blake wasn't signed for that edition either. She's always been doing her own thing and the rodeo has always had non-country artists in their lineup (Cardi B, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez..). It's unrelated to him.”

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the special occasion was shut down in 2020 and 2021. But now, it’s back and Gwen is excited to be a part of it.

While the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo promotes agriculture and showcases western heritage, it also features top artists across several genres. After the inaugural event in 1932, country singer Gene Autry was the first to perform in 1942. Since then, the lineup has evolved quite a bit.

For the 2022 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which takes place February 28 to March 20, Gwen will be joined by a talented bunch, including Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Ricky Martin, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, Luke Bryan, Maren Morris, Kane Brown, Journey, Khalid, Chris Stapleton, Marshmello, Brad Paisley, George Strait with Ashley McBryde and others. Those interested in attending can purchase tickets on the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's website.

Who knows, Blake might just make an appearance after all.
