Introduced in 2020, the latest Chevrolet Corvette stunned the world with its supercar styling and engine layout - the first-ever mid-engine Corvette and the second-only such production sports car in GM's history, after the Pontiac Fiero. The 'regular' Corvette Stingray variants use a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 with 490 horsepower and 465 Ib-ft of torque. This makes for impressive performance figures, the base Corvette hitting 60 mph in three or so seconds.

Available in the summer, the Z06 promises to be even more intense. Sporting the world's most powerful N/A V8, the 670-hp coupe will reach 60 mph in an astonishing 2.6 seconds. What's more, you get to revel in an extra 2,000 rpm of orchestral V8 engine noise - the Z06 redlines at 8,600 rpm. So, when will you be able to get your hands on one?

Chevrolet dealers across America have received communication from the carmaker with regards to production dates for MY2022 and MY2023 Corvette C8's. This is according to Corvette Action Center, a forum that reports the final model year build-out date for 2022 Corvettes as 5 June 2022.

However, 2023 production will begin on the 9th of May, almost a month earlier. This is interesting as, usually, the Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky usually takes between one and two weeks off during model change adaptation. Of course, the seemingly endless supply issues that have plagued the whole industry, not to mention a recent tornado, have put a spanner in the works for GM.

The Corvette dealer guide is expected to be released on March 21, with dealers apparently able to place orders for 2023 models from March 24 onwards. This, says the website, is the same day the online configurator will be opened.

Unlike the C7 Z06 - where dealership allocation was separate from other Corvettes and based on how many were sold in the previous year - the C8 Z06 allocation will be pooled together with other Corvette allocation numbers.

High customer demand is already a headache and wasn't helped when, late last year, the aforementioned tornado wreaked havoc on the Bowling Green Plant. In total, 122 Corvette C8's were damaged beyond repair. In fact, demand for the C8 remains so high the waiting list reportedly stretches as far back as 2025.
