Galaxy S22 & Galaxy S22 Ultra Specs Confirmed By Regulator

The Samsung Galaxy S22 is almost here. It’s customary to encounter a few leaks and rumors ahead of its official unveiling in mid-February. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is now in the news (again), as it gets certified by Brazilian telecommunications agency, Anatel.

This certification also sheds light on some of the hardware specifications of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The flagship bears the model number SM-S908E/DS with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC onboard. Brazilian tech blog Canaltech first encountered the certification (via SamMobile). This listing also confirms that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will offer a dedicated S Pen holder/silo.

Furthermore, the Galaxy S22 Ultra would ship with a 5,000mAh battery (EB-BS908ABY) with support for 45W fast wired charging. The listing also reveals that the manufacturer won’t ship a charging adapter or headset with the flagship. Other specs include 8GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

The entry-level Galaxy S22 is sporting a 3,700mAh battery

Meanwhile, the entry-level Galaxy S22 (SM-S901E/DS) also makes an appearance on Anatel’s database. In line with previous reports, the device packs a 3,700mAh battery and the same Qualcomm chipset as the Galaxy S22 Ultra. While there’s no mention of the Galaxy S22+ here, we expect the device to make an appearance fairly soon.

Based on recent information, Samsung could unveil the Galaxy S22 series on February 8. The company will reportedly put the lineup for pre-order a day later, while customers have to wait until February 24 to get their hands on the devices. This is in contrast to previous reports indicating that the unveiling could be delayed by a week or two.

While most of the Galaxy S22 variants will run on the aforementioned Qualcomm silicon, a few are expected to feature the home-grown Exynos 2200 SoC. However, Samsung is yet to officially unveil this flagship chipset, leading to speculation that the company may have encountered trouble during testing.

Samsung dismissed these reports, adding that there are no performance-related issues with the chipset. A company spokesperson then said that the chipset could launch alongside the Galaxy S22 next month. The chipset has generated a fair bit of excitement primarily due to the integrated AMD RDNA 2 graphics.
