To get this quest started in Enkanomiya, head to The Narrows, and teleport to the top right teleport waypoint. Head just South of the waypoint and down to the lower ground levels, and you’ll find an entrance into the wall behind you. Navigate upstairs and talk to the spirit on the balcony. 

This will begin the quest, and now you have to find five Lost Books – only the locations are pretty obtuse. Just read through our guide below for all the information you need. These books can be obtained in almost any order, so read through our instructions to figure out which books you are missing.

For the first book teleport all the way to the Northeast of Enkanomiya, to the teleport waypoint on Evernight Temple. Hop down to the Eastern ledge just below the teleport point, and use the switch to ensure you’re in Whitenight, not Evernight. 

As in the Lotus Eater quest, you’ll need a Geo character to hit certain switches in Enkanomiya. Active the switch behind the Evernight switch, and that will begin to rotate a maze. Head over to the right of that switch to find yet another, and activate that. Once done, use the switch to return to Evernight. The walls of the maze will light up and you can navigate it. 

Head over to the left side of the maze as you enter and hit the switch here using a Hydro character. Backtrack to the passage heading into the center of the maze, and take the first right to find another Hydro switch at the end. Backtrack to the previous passage once more, and again head deeper inside, over the grate in the center of the maze, and behind it to find the third Hydro switch. The final switch is at the back of the maze, accessible from the grate again. This will open up the grate in the center, allowing you to dive down below. There’s a spirit here that you can talk to that will help you find the first Lost Book. 

Once you chat to the spirit you’ll have a marker on your map in The Serpent’s Heart. Travel there to find a grate, and open it up with the key the spirit gave you – switch is on one of the four pedestals surrounding the grate. This opens up a fairly tricky puzzle. Follow the instructions below in detail: 

• Change to Whitenight using the switch in the room, and then open the gates in the center of the room by using the two switches on the pillars on opposite ends of the room.
• Use the Geo switch on the right side of the room (when facing away from the Whitenight/Evernight switch). Activate it twice.
• Use the gate switch closest to the Evernight switch, and then use the Geo switch on the opposite side of the room twice.
• Head the opposite gate switch, activate it, and then use the Geo switch on the other side of the room once only.
• Swap back to Evernight, and this will unlock a chest containing the item the spirit wanted. 

After all of that, return to the spirit, and he will give you what you need to open the gate just down the stairs from him. Inside is a chest that contains the first Lost Book. Phew.

For book two we’re traveling to the Southwestern teleport point on Dainichi Mikoshi. You should see a quest to pick up just Northwest of the teleport point on the map – to get there you will need to glide off the side of the cliff and onto a ledge just underneath. 

Talk to the spirits here, and you’ll get a new map marker to the very Southwest of The Serpent’s Heart. Travel here and you’ll find the spirit you need just North of the teleport point on the lower ground. Chat to him and collect the item behind him. Go to the center of the new map marker and you’ll be able to activate a short battle with a strong enemy – come prepared. 

Collect the reward, return to the spirit, and you will finally have the second Lost Book. That one was much easier.

The next quest begins at Vishap Research Lab but getting there is a bit tricky if you don’t already know how. Teleport to the Northern point on Dainichi Mikoshi, and then you will need to glide to the island that is off to the North of the main Dainichi Mikoshi. Once there, hop onto the small adjacent island that will have a teleporter, taking you all the way to the Vishap Research Lab. The quest is picked up close to where you land. 

Follow the map marker and head further inside the Research Lab. You will need to activate the switches in the room with various elements, and each switch will open a gate will a strong Vishap inside. Open up each of the rooms and defeat each of the enemies. Once done, search the cells the monsters were held in and you’ll find a glowing item – the third Lost Book.

Next up we’re teleporting to the center of Dainichi Mikoshi, and heading South from the teleport point, just to a lower level where will find another strong enemy like the one we fought when finding Lost Book 2. You don’t need to fight this time – instead, blow up the nearby barrels to open up a hole in the wall. During Evernight, activate the switch inside, and then go and change the world state to Whitenight. There is a switch for this opposite the hole you blew in the wall, just on a lower level atop a pillar, towards the next teleport point. 

Head back inside the door and his the next switch to move a wall. Now change back to Evernight once more before heading back. Now we have a puzzle that mirrors the one we covered in the Lotus Eater quest. There are symbols on the wall above the chest. Activate them to see what order they need to be accessed in, and take a screenshot when they’ve lit up so you don’t forget. 

You will need to return to the same location from the Lotus Eater quest, and enter the doors in the order of the symbols from the wall. For more information, check our Lotus Eater quest guide. Once you complete this short puzzle, a chest will appear containing the fourth book.

This one is simple. Teleport all the way to Inazuma City using the Narukami Island waypoint. Just North of the waypoint you’ll find the Publishing House. Purchase The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku, and that’s it – the final Lost Book.

Return to the spirit you got this quest from in The Narrows. Hand over the five books and return them to their shelves to open up a brand new room. There’s plenty to find in this room – it’s all your reward for completing Collection of Dragons and Snakes.
