Investment in construction tech to increase

Construction is increasingly embracing new technology

More than 70% of those involved in construction technology are planning to invest more in the sector in 2022 compared to 2021, according to a survey carried out by KHL’s Construction Technology brand.

The survey also revealed that 42% said that their uptake of technology in the last five years had increased a lot, while 50% said it had increased somewhat.

Over 60% of respondents said that they had recruited new staff specifically to focus on new technology.

In relation to the challenges that technology can help address for the construction industry, increased productivity, reduced risk and safety improvements and saving costs were the three most popular answers.

When asked what issues were holding them back regarding the adoption of new technology, the most common answer among respondents to the survey was the price of such technology. This was followed by a lack of knowledge and understanding and the difficulty of integrating new technology with current systems.
