Tampa man killed, another hurt as pickup overturns. Neither wore seatbelts.

The single-vehicle crash occurred Wednesday night on I-75 in Apollo Beach, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

APOLLO BEACH — One Tampa man died and another was seriously injured when they were ejected from a pickup truck as it spun out of control and overturned on Interstate 75, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Neither man was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday south of the Big Bend Road interchange.

The driver, 33, was headed north on I-75 when he lost control and the pickup spun onto the inside shoulder, traveled back to the outside shoulder and overturned a number of times, the Highway Patrol said.

The driver died at the scene and the passenger, 22, received serious injuries.

The Highway Patrol did not release the names of the two men.
