Dota 2 esports is still suffering from the worldwide pandemic and as a result, the Winter Major of 2022 was cancelled, with additional alterations to future tournaments.
Dota 2 had the first major tournament cancellation of 2022 just two weeks into the year and the reason is the usual suspect - COVID-19. The virus is currently harassing the human race with its Omicron variation and other strains are not excluded in the near future, which is mostly why Valve decided to can the Winter Major.
As such, Tour 1 will end when the regions wrap up their league tournaments while those who participated in Fantasy will get their rewards before Tour 2 kicks off.
Furthermore, Dota Pro Circuit 2021-2022 participants can earn just as many points as before since those from the Winter Major will be redistributed to the next two Majors.

- 2nd Place - 610 Points
- 3rd Place - 530 Points
- 4th Place - 460 Points
- 5th/6th Place - 385 Points
- 7th/8th Place - 240 Points
- Major 3
- 1st Place - 820 Points
- 2nd Place - 740 Points
- 3rd Place - 670 Points
- 4th Place - 590 Points
- 5th/6th Place - 515 Points
- 7th/8th Place - 360 Points
This new distribution was created in order to provide a balance between regional and cross-region point generation by essentially keeping it the same as before. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?
